The master graduate in Chimica per le Scienze Agroalimentari possesses a unique and highly qualified professional profile, with solid chemical bases and specialized skills in strategic areas of the agri-food sector, such as product analysis and certification, valorisation of agricultural by-products, management and sustainability of production and transformation processes and relevant legislation.

In particular, the graduate will be able to:

- Coordinate research activities in the agri-food sector,

- Manage and/or supervise laboratory activities both in the analytical and preparatory fields,

- Develop new products and/or prototypes, 

- Maintain relationships with external bodies and subjects (e.g. laboratories, suppliers, etc.), 

- Monitor and manage the correct application of safety regulations, 

- Develop processing sheets, 

- Analyze and process data and information, 

- Coordinate and participate in working groups at company level in the production and research and development departments and in research groups in the academic field and in research institutions, 

- Prepare and present scientific research projects,

- Hold positions in the field of education, promote and spread scientific and technological innovation and scientific culture.

Graduates in Chimica per le Scienze Agroalimentari can count on various career opportunities. The sectors of employment are mainly:

- Freelance as a Senior Chemist, subject to registration in a professional register (applies to Italy),

- Roles of high responsibility in private analysis laboratories, research centers, private companies, cooperatives and consortia in the agri-food, agricultural and agri-food sectors,

- Roles of high responsibility in public laboratories and research centres: university laboratories and centers that carry out and promote research activity and its transfer to private companies,

- Roles of high responsibility in private companies, especially (but not exclusively) in the agricultural and agri-food sector, both in the research and development sector and in that of production and quality control,

- Roles of high responsibility in Institutes, Research Centers, public or private bodies, central or local public administration, which deal with territorial planning, issuing production authorizations, and environmental protection.

Furthermore, graduates will have suitable preparation to undertake academic careers, participating in research doctorates or second level master degrees held by Italian and international institutions.
